The 55th Distance Derby was
another huge success. The weather
was perfect, the number of runners
was again up and the competition
was a lot of fun.

Consolidated Plan Citizen Participation Survey

The City of Huntington Beach is in the process of updating its
Consolidated Plan, which is submitted to the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Consolidated Plan is a
five-year plan that serves as a comprehensive strategy to address
the needs of low and moderate income residents in
Huntington Beach. It:

1. Identifies housing needs and problems;

2. Analyzes market conditions and resources;

3. Sets up priorities and adopts strategies;

4. Allocates resources; and

5. Contains an annual plan with reporting obligations which tracks
how monies are spent and how goals are accomplished.

The Plan is a requirement of the Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME)
and will be used to assist the City in making funding decisions for
these two federal programs. A survey has been developed to collect
community needs information and the data will be incorporated into
the Consolidated Plan.
